What started as a blog, Supercharged Food has now turned into a thriving, multi-faceted health business complete with cookbooks, wellness programs, and soon, a fully-fledged holistic clinic.

Born from her own health struggles, Lee created Supercharged Food with her fellow Australians in mind, building a strong connection to the planet as well. It’s truly wellness incarnate.

So, to fill our cups (and bowls), Supercharged Food founder, Lee is sharing more of her passions and inspirations as she takes us behind the brand.

The Burning Questions

1. What made you decide to start your own brand and company? Where did the idea come from? What was the inspiration?

Supercharged Food began its life after I was diagnosed with a crippling autoimmune disease in 2006. I was taking a cocktail of interesting medication that appeared to be making little to no difference and realised that I had to take charge of my health. So from that day, I began an intense journey to heal myself through food. 

Once I have my mindset on something, I am pretty determined. While recovering I spent hours researching, studying and looking into ways I could harness the power of food to nourish my body. 

As is often the case, necessity is the mother of invention and I realised that I could create delicious and easy recipes using nourishing ingredients – something that at the time was considered impossible. Supercharged Food was born, as I wanted to educate anyone who would listen [about] the art of fun, nutrient-rich eating. 

2. In a few sentences, how would you describe your brand and products?

The products are wholesome, affordable and made with people and the planet in mind. My brand is accessible, inspiring and aims to make the world a better place.

3. Out of all your products, which is your personal favourite and why? (We know this is hard)

Oooo it’s so hard to pick one! If I had to say I would pick the Love Your Gut capsules because they are very effective (I have Crohn’s and previously leaky gut and they help so much) and also, they’re easy to take and vegan as well!

4. What motivates you on a day-to-day basis?

I’m motivated by happy customers and fellow recipe lovers who enjoy making my dishes. When people send me feedback that their whole family has loved a dish, it just makes me feel so inspired to keep on motivating others.

5. If you had a magic genie and were granted three wishes, what would they be?

I would wish for continued health, a happy family and to be able to live in alignment with my values and nature.

6. What have been your biggest work challenges or achievements, or your favourite story so far?

When I started my blog in my pyjamas on the couch after a bout of illness I had no idea it would lead to what I am doing now. It’s been a rollercoaster and had its ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. My biggest achievement has been writing nine best selling cookbooks.

7. What's next on your horizon and any exciting plans?

I am focussing on the business right now and creating products that make a difference in people’s lives.  I’m also moving house to Summer Bay (AKA Palm Beach) where I’m setting up my Supercharged wellness and nutrition clinic which I’m so excited about! There will be yoga, meditation, nutrition sessions and cooking, and also a bit of paddling in Pittwater ☺

8. Describe your ideal Sunday morning, and yes, of course, you can include what’s for breakfast.

I love Sunday mornings! I wake up and straight away do 23 minutes of Vedic meditation.  Then I usually put the kettle on and make a pot of chai tea. Then I’ll either go and teach yoga or do a personal practice or take my dog for a walk to the park and stretch our legs!

When we get home, I usually make breakfast, and lately, it’s been this smoothie

9. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Less is more.

Late 1800’s because I love the fashion.

What’s one thing we’d find on your bucket list?

The Northern Lights.
