Our Impact

Ollee Sustainability and UN SDGs

Promoting the wellbeing of people and the health of our planet is why we exist

The work we do, including our strategies, decision making and goals are aligned with the United Nation’s Global Impact 2030 Agenda.

In 2015 the United Nations launched their 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are the world’s collective call to action to end poverty and restore our planet’s life support systems by 2030. These SDGs are used as our guiding framework to improve our own sustainability efforts whilst inspiring and encouraging others within our network to do the same.

We believe that through our everyday choices, voices and votes (including voting with our wallet) we can all help to bring about positive social and environmental change, and impact the world around us.

Whilst we believe each SDG is critically important to a healthy global community and world and that each of us can contribute in some way to all 17 SDG’s, at Ollee we have identified the eight SDGs we feel most aligned with and the key areas for our business to make a positive contribution and support a decade of action.

Ollee UN Sustainable Development Goals

United Nation SDG 3 Good Health & Wellbeing

Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Making food that's grown organically, locally, GMO free and without artificial colors, flavours and preservatives more accessible, goes a long way in promoting health and wellbeing. Using wholesome ingredients and helping people find brands that support their dietary needs and choices, adds not only nutritional value but more joy, energy and a love for good food and health.

United Nataion SDG 5 Gender Equality

Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

As female-founders, we are passionate about supporting girl's and womens rights both locally and internationally. Showcasing women-led businesses, ensuring products from developing countries support fair trade practices, calling out descrimination and never, ever putting a brand or product on Ollee that diminishes a woman's or girl's right, is just some of what we do.

United Nataion SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities

Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries

No form of descimination based on income, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, class, ethnicity or religion is tolerated. Furthermore, we all need to do what we can to protect the most vulnerable people in our community including older people, people with disabilities, children, women, migrants and refugees. Whether it be a global pandemic or climate change, it is these groups of people that will suffer the most therefore, by acting in ways that reduce climate change, that promote gender equality, that promote health and wellbeing, we are fundamentally looking after those that need it most.

United Nataion SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

The world continues to use our natural resorces unsustainably and as a society, our everyday choices make the biggest impact. Promoting sustainable lifestyles, reducing food waste, eco-friendly choices, plastic free and zero waste solutions and saying "no" to fast fashion is just another day's work for us. The bonus is, these solutions also help to fight climate change (SDG 13) which means double the good with every action.

United Nataion SDG 13 Climate Action

Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Climate Change affects every country and every person in the world - in fact the survival of our human civilisation depends on us limiting the increase in global temperature by the end of this century to no more than 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius. We are committed to helping individuals and businesses reduce overall consumption, reduce plastic waste, food waste, supporting renewable energy, choosing organic and local products and living more sustainably. Every action reduces our carbon footprint and every action make a difference and counts.

United Nataion SDG 14 Life Below Water

Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources

Every second breath we take, comes from our oceans. Plus, our rainwater, drinking water, weather, climate, coastlines and much of our food are provided and regulated by the sea. Our oceans are our planets and our own life support so we are committed to reducing ocean acidification through our climate action, passionate about keeping our oceans cleaner and marine life healthier by eliminating plastic. Together and more, we will do what we can to spread the message about how important marine life is and why we need to protect it.

United Nataion SDG 15 Life on Land

Goal 15: Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss

Around 1 million animal and plant species are threatened with extinction, and with nature critical to our survival, without a healthy planet and land life, there is no healthy human life. By choosing organic and local foods and products, recycling and buying only what we need, we promote biodiversity. By acting on climate, we can save the some 3.2 billion people, and species threatened with extinction due to climate change. By choosing palm oil free, we can prevent deforestation and the loss of species that call our forests home.

United Nataion SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals

Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

Just like the old adage goes, the sum is greater than it's parts, nothing great can happen without collaborating and working together with others. Sustainalbe Development Goal 17 is all about creating partnerships for the greater good, something Ollee believes in and supports. The partnerships we create with our brands, our retailers and businesses that buy on Ollee and very importantly, with the organisations in our community with common goals mean everything to us. Together we can make awesome things happen
